Wild Earth Llama Adventures - Llama Trekking Adventures in New Mexico's Pristine Wilderness!

Leah and Stuart Wilde

Wild Earth Llama Adventures offers fun and educational wilderness adventures in New Mexico’s pristine wilderness areas, near Taos and Santa Fe. We are New Mexico’s oldest and most experienced Llama Trekking Outfitter, and are currently celebrating more than 25 years of hiking and exploring with guests from all over the world!

Our Mission is to make wilderness experiences accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels; and to promote conservation and stewardship of our public wild lands. We are committed to providing our llama trekking guests with unique and authentic outdoor adventures, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

We Operate Under Special Recreation Permits issued by the Carson and Santa Fe National Forests, as well as the Taos Field Office of the BLM. Our years of experience exploring the New Mexico backcountry enable us to create custom wilderness experiences for any age or fitness level. We specifically choose trails that are “off the beaten path”, and base camp locations that are remote and seldom visited, in order to provide you with a true wilderness experience.

Our Guides are trained and certified in wilderness medicine, CPR, emergency rescue and evacuation. Our level of preparedness, keen instincts, intimate understanding of local weather patterns, and pro-active attitude makes our llama trekking adventures safe, and keep our guests warm, dry, and having fun, even in the most extreme conditions. Our safety record is impeccable, and we are proud to say that we have never had a major injury or accident, in all our years as a wilderness outfitter.

We Practice “Leave No Trace” Outdoor Ethics, and Minimal Impact Backcountry Travel Techniques, leaving less of a footprint in the fragile wilderness environments that we explore. As a true ecotourism provider, we embrace the principles of responsible tourism by keeping our groups small, educating our guests about the natural areas and cultural sites we visit, and by helping to protect and preserve New Mexico’s natural and cultural heritage.

Our Philosophy

The wilderness is where we go to remind ourselves that we are a part of a much greater community. It is a symbol of that in us which is still wild and free. By spending time living close to the land, unplugged and with fewer distractions, we begin to feel the rhythms and cycles of the nature. It is our hope that sharing wilderness experiences with people will help foster a sense of stewardship and lead to a better world for future generations.
